Adel Adili (Persian: عادل عدیلی) is a British–Iranian visual artist and visual effects creative director. He is recognized as a pioneering figure in digital art and a co-founder of the award-winning studio Makuta VFX.[1][2]


Early life and artistic background

Adili received formal training in fine arts at the Isfahan School of Fine Arts and later earned a degree from the Pardis Faculty of Art.[2] In the early 1990s, he became an early adopter of 3D computer graphics in Iran. In 1998, he launched Adel3D.com, one of the region's first online portals dedicated to CGI and conceptual design.[2][3]

Digital art and publications

In 2006, Adili was featured in professional CGI publications as a 3D artist and digital illustrator.[2] His work was showcased across international digital art platforms during the late 1990s and early 2000s, contributing to the early development of 3D production pipelines.[3]

Makuta VFX

In 2010, Adili co-founded Makuta VFX in Hyderabad, India. Serving as the VFX Creative Director for 12 years, he was instrumental in the architectural and environmental design of major cinematic digital kingdoms, most notably the iconic city of Mahishmati in the Baahubali series.[2][4]

His work at Makuta contributed to multiple National Film Awards for films such as Eega and Magadheera.[5] His technical leadership has been documented in industry case studies by Autodesk, focusing on complex production workflows.[6][7]

Later work and AI Innovation

Following his tenure in India, Adili established MCA Timber Ltd in the UK, a studio focused on the integration of classical artistry, CGI, and artificial intelligence. He developed the "Athena" platform, an offline cognitive AI system designed for secure cinematic visual production.[2]
