Adelasterias is a genus of starfish in the family Asteriidae.[1] It has a single species, Adelasterias papillosa (Koehler, 1906).[2]

Name origin

Papillosa means papillose, which means to be covered in pappilae, a tiny, nipple-like projection. Koehler saw the pappilae, thus naming it: Adelasterias papillosa.
