Aditya Patil (born 2 April 2010) is an Indian chess player who holds the title of Candidate Master (CM), awarded by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in September 2025. His highest FIDE rating was 2208, achieved in December 2025.[1] He studies at the South Mumbai Chess Academy (SMCA) and has trained under Balaji Guttula and Prathamesh Chivte.

Early life and education
Aditya was born on 2 April 2010 in Mumbai, India, to Kunal Patil and Anjali Patil. He is a student at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS)[2], where he started his academic journey in 2014 and will graduate in 2028.
Chess career
Aditya began playing chess in 2015 under Prathamesh Chivte. In March 2016, he joined the South Mumbai Chess Academy, where he trained under Balaji Guttula. In 2017, at the age of seven, he participated in the National Chess Championships and the All Asian Chess School Championships.[3][4]
In December 2023, he was ranked among the top ten Indian players in the Under-14 category. In September 2025, he attained a FIDE rating of 2200 and received the Candidate Master (CM) title. His highest FIDE rating was 2208, achieved in December 2025.[1]
In June 2025, he received the Excellence in Chess Award from Dhirubhai Ambani International School.[2]
His achievements include:
- Gold Medal at the 7ème Open International de Noisiel, Noisiel, France (July 2022).[2][5]
- Silver Medal at the KOGE Open, Denmark (August 2025).[6]
- Silver Medal at the 36th National Age Group Chess Championship 2019 - Boys Under-9, Singapore (December 2019).[7][8][9]
- Bronze Medal at the All Asian Schools Chess Championship, Panjin, China (July 2017).[3][4]
- Bronze Medal at the 42nd Milan Open, Italy (December 2022).[10]
- Silver Medal at the Maharashtra State Schools Chess Championship (December 2016) in the U-6 category.[11]
- Gold Medal at the International Schools Sports Organization (ISSO) National Games (September 2023, 2024).[12]
- Second Position at the ISSO National Games (September 2025) in the U-17 category (youngest player).[13]
- Gold Medal at the MSSA Chess Championship 2019 Under-10 Category.
