Comment: Per WP:GNG, not finding any significant coverage (ie: more than passing mentions) of Hughes in reliable independent secondary sources with reputations for accuracy and fact-checking - this excludes his agent and MetFilm School, for example). IMDb is not a reliable source for Wikipedia (per WP:IMDb). Paul W (talk) 15:23, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

Career
Hughes' career in screenwriting took off in 2015 with a number of web series and short films before his breakout role co-writing the hit BBC show Dreaming Whilst Black (2018) with Adjani Salmon. Collectively he has won over 3 international awards and nominated for 6 others, including 1 BAFTA nomination. The project began at MetFilm School and evolved into a BBC Three pilot in 2021 and a full series in 2023, co-produced by A24 and Big Deal Films.[3] The second series released in 2025 and was described as bringing in ‘New Era’ of Diversity in Entertainment Industry.[4]
Hughes served as co-writer and executive producer. His other roles in the show involved directing, editing, and producing.[5][6]
His feature script Mignonette was a finalist at the 2017 London Film Awards.[7] In 2023, Hughes co-wrote all six episodes of Dreaming Whilst Black Series 1, which earned a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.[8] The second series aired in October 2025 and received five stars from The Guardian.[9]
Earlier short films include writing credits on A Fistful of Candy (2016) and The Job (2015).[6]
