Anjay Rastogi (MD, PhD) is an American nephrologist, pharmacologist, and medical humanitarian,[1] known for his contributions to kidney health, clinical research, and public health outreach. Rastogi has been associated with the University of California, Los Angeles since 1994.[2]

Early Life and Education
Dr. Rastogi, (MD, PhD) was born on February 6th, 1969 in Jaipur, India. His inspiration to pursue medicine can be traced back to his late father, who was also a doctor. His father, a compassionate figure, demonstrated humanity by actively helping his village and accepting their offerings, which he generously returned through medical treatment.[3]
Raised by his grandmother, Dr. Rastogi attended St. Xavier's Catholic School in Jaipur, where he had the privilege of meeting Mother Teresa, an encounter that left a lasting impact on his humanitarian values.
Once he pursued higher education in India, Dr. Rastogi had the opportunity to work under Nobel laureate Louis José Ignarro, further fueling his passion for research and medical excellence.[4]
He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur, India, and subsequently earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from SMS Medical College.[5]
Dr. Rastogi furthered his academic pursuits by earning a doctorate (PhD) in Pharmacology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, specializing in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology. He then finished his education doing his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at UCLA.[6]

In 2016, Dr. Rastogi (MD, PhD) founded the UCLA CORE Kidney Health Program, which focuses on advancing kidney health awareness and treatment strategies through integrated care, with an emphasis on prevention and education to empower patients to become active advocates for their own health. He still remains as the director to this day.[7]With the creation of the CORE Kidney Program also came the Circle of CORE. The Circle of CORE is a patient advocacy and support organization composed of current and former kidney patients that work to provide peer support, patient education, and advocacy for the kidney health community.[8]
Through CORE Kidney, Dr. Rastogi has also been heavily involved in community engagement and outreach events in order to bring kidney health education to patients everywhere.[9]
He has served as a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA since 2016 along with other various leadership roles:

Personal initiatives
Dr. Rastogi (MD, PhD) founded the Bruin Beans Health Club at UCLA in 2015, a health and wellness initiative with outreach activities ranging from local to global communities. This undergraduate club assists the CORE Kidney program with improving healthcare delivery to patients with kidney disease by implementing CORE values of Clinical excellence, Outreach, Research, and Education as well as promoting awareness for kidney health in general at various outreach events.[17]
