Aparna Tilak (born Aparna Banerjee; 11 October 1976) is an Indian actress and former model who was active in Hindi television during the late 1990s and 2000s.She is known for her roles in Family No. 1 (1998–1999) on Sony Entertainment Television, Kohi Apna Sa (2001–2003) on Zee TV, Jeet (2003–2004) on Star Plus, and Left Right Left (2006–2008) on SAB TV, as well as a supporting role in the 2003 Bollywood film Footpath. After leaving the entertainment industry around 2007, she relocated to the United Arab Emirates.

Early life and education
Aparna Banerjee was born on 11 October 1976 in India. She is of Bengali descent and completed her undergraduate education at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, graduating with a degree in Arts.[1]
Career
Modelling
Following her graduation, She pursued a career in modelling, appearing in advertising campaigns for several consumer brands.[2]
Television (1998–2007)
Family No. 1 (1998–1999)
Prior to her scripted television debut, She appeared in a chat show, where she was noticed by producer Binaifer Kohli. Kohli cast her in Family No. 1, a comedy drama that aired on Sony Entertainment Television from 1998 to 1999. She played Rashmi Malhotra, the daughter of the male protagonist Deepak Malhotra, in an ensemble cast that included Tanvi Azmi and Asawari Joshi. In a 2024 interview, Tilak described it as her first experience of ensemble acting.[2]
Kohi Apna Sa (2001–2003)
She received wider recognition for her role as Sanjana Kabir Gill in Kohi Apna Sa, a Hindi drama that aired on Zee TV from October 2001 to January 2003. Created by Ekta Kapoor and produced by Balaji Telefilms, the show followed three best friends who marry into the same joint family.[3] At the inaugural Indian Telly Awards in 2002, Tilak was nominated for Best Actress in a Comic Role for her performance in the series.[3]
Jeet (2003–2004)
She played the lead role of Janaki Sehgal in Jeet, a romantic drama that aired on Star Plus from October 2003 to April 2004, opposite Ankur Nayyar. The show also featured Mrinal Kulkarni and Neeru Bajwa.[3]
Left Right Left (2006–2008) and Asambhav (2007)
She played Captain Dr. Shalini Singhal in the military drama Left Right Left, which premiered on SAB TV on 10 July 2006 and concluded its second season in September 2008. The ensemble cast included Rajeev Khandelwal, Arjun Bijlani, Harshad Chopda, and Gaurav Chopra.[4][5]
Concurrently, in January 2007, She was cast in the Marathi-language daily soap Asambhav for Zee Alpha (now Zee Marathi). She was initially contacted for the role under the mistaken impression that she was Maharashtrian by birth, but passed the audition owing to her proficiency in Marathi.[1]
Film
In 2003, She appeared in the Bollywood crime thriller Footpath, directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced under Vishesh Films, released on 15 August 2003. The film starred Aftab Shivdasani, Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu, and Irrfan Khan.[6]
Personal life
She is married to Amod Tilak, a Maharashtrian doctor and competitive badminton player.[1] The couple have one son. In 2007, Tilak publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the Badminton Association of India after her husband was reportedly prevented from competing in the 40-plus category at the World Championships held in China.[7]
She subsequently relocated from Mumbai to the United Arab Emirates with her husband.[6]
Post-acting career
She stepped away from acting around 2007.[4] Residing in Dubai, she subsequently took up oracle card reading and energy healing, and has stated that she began developing her own oracle cards around 2018.[3]
In November 2016, She was reported as the prospective first wild card entrant for the reality series Bigg Boss 10, which would have marked a return to television after nearly a decade away from the screen.[8]
