Arhan Bagati (born 15 June 1999) is an Indian public policy advocate and film associate producer. He is the founder of the Kashmir's Yumberzal Applied Research Institute (KYARI) and served as the Deputy Chef de Mission for the Indian contingent at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo. In 2026, he was awarded the Jammu and Kashmir State Award for Social Reforms and Empowerment.

Early life and education

Bagati was born in New Delhi to a Kashmiri Pandit family. He attended The Shriram School, Delhi, and graduated from Pomona College in the United States with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics.[1] During his undergraduate studies, he also completed a study abroad program at the University of Cambridge.[2]

As of 2025, he is pursuing a Master in Public Policy (MPP) at the Harvard Kennedy School.[3]

Career

Paralympic movement

Bagati has been associated with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) since 2015. He developed "InRio," a mobile application designed to assist Indian para-athletes with accessibility information during the 2016 Summer Paralympics, and later updated the platform as "IndTokyo" for the 2020 Games.[4]

In 2021, he was appointed as the Deputy Chef de Mission for the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Paralympics, serving alongside Chef de Mission Gursharan Singh.[5][6]

Social advocacy

Bagati is the founder of KYARI (Kashmir's Yumberzal Applied Research Institute), an organization focused on developmental research in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The institute has worked on initiatives involving tribal pastoralists and sustainable transport solutions.[7]

In October 2022, KYARI partnered with the Kumaon Literary Festival to organize the festival's Kashmir edition, which was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.[8]

Film production

Bagati has worked in the Hindi film industry on projects filmed in the Kashmir region. He is credited as an Associate Producer for the 2025 film Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi.[9] He also served as an Associate Producer for the war film 120 Bahadur, produced by Excel Entertainment.[10]
