Beluga (born Braden Boyko; March 6, 2002) is an American YouTuber known for comedic sketch videos and short-form content. He also operates several secondary channels where he uploads meme content and various video game-related videos.
YouTube career
Beluga created his main YouTube channel on January 26, 2017. The first video on the channel was uploaded in February 2021.[1]
Most videos on the channel are comedic sketches that take place on the Discord platform, featuring text-based interactions between characters portrayed as users on Discord servers. The main character is a cat named Beluga, accompanied by various recurring characters. The channel also includes miscellaneous gaming videos unrelated to the sketches, featuring games such as Minecraft. Beluga typically uploads a new video every three days.
The channel’s profile picture, which represents the cat character, originates from the 2018 Internet meme "Polite Cat." The image shows a white cat looking directly at the camera, later described as “polite” as the meme gained popularity.[2]
As of December 2025, the channel has more than 11 million subscribers. In December 2021, YouTube ranked Beluga fourth on its annual “Breakout Creators” list. The channel became the fastest-growing YouTube channel in history at the time, gaining over 7 million subscribers within several months.[3]
Other channels
Beluga operates three additional YouTube channels:
Beluga Jr. was created on February 12, 2017, and features content related to the main channel. It has gained approximately 450,000 subscribers.
Explore Lucid Dreaming was created on September 30, 2017. The channel focuses on lucid dreaming, offering guides and explanations on achieving conscious dreams through various methods. Although this was the first channel where Beluga actively uploaded content, he became less active on it after the main channel grew in popularity. The channel has approximately 1.08 million subscribers.
Braden Boyko was created on November 24, 2017, and is named after Beluga’s real name. The channel features comedic videos on various subjects, sometimes including live-action footage of Boyko. It has accumulated 179,000 subscribers.[2]
Several parody channels exist, presented as if operated by characters from Beluga’s videos.
