Comment: High amount of interviews and self-published sources. ScalarFactor (talk) 01:43, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
Comment: Note to ScalarFactor: Early Cypronia games belong to the early internet era and have limited coverage, as many modern game review portals did not exist before 2010. This draft has increased references from 20 to over 60 to improve verifiability. The Cypronia article was first created in 2008, and its deletion in 2025 broke 9 Wikipedia links to Cypron Studios and 15 links to Cypronia. Asceno (talk) 08:31, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

History
Cypronia began in 1996 under the name Ablaze Entertainment, founded and led by Stefan Pavelka[4][5][6] and partners, with its first releases targeting the Amiga platform. The studio’s early work included two titles: The Strangers[7], a Beat 'em up game released in 1997, and the real-time strategy Napalm: Crimson Crisis[8][9][10] in 1999.
In 2001, the company rebranded as Cypron Studios[1] as it shifted focus to Microsoft Windows development. Its first major PC title under this name was the real-time strategy game State of War (2001), featuring both solo and LAN competitive play, followed by a sequel, State of War: Warmonger (2003). These games helped establish the studio’s presence in the RTS market, particularly in Russia[11], Czech Republic[12] and China[13][14], where the title was known under the localized name 蓝色警戒 (“Blue Alert”)[15]. Several unofficial map editors were developed by members of the fan community, including Czech and Chinese versions, enabling players to create, modify, and share custom maps for State of War[16][17]. The State of War game with Warmonger sequel has since been re-released in bundled and ported editions on Steam[18][19].
Throughout the 2000s, Cypronia produced a range of other PC and handheld titles, including Gods: Lands of Infinity[20][21], licensed and original Nintendo DS games, before adopting the Cypronia name for good as it entered the portable and console markets in the late 2000s.[22][23][24]
The studio achieved international breakout success with Cube Life: Island Survival, an open‑world survival sandbox video game[25] originally released for the Wii U Nintendo eShop in June 2015. Cube Life capitalized on the absence of Minecraft on Nintendo platforms at the time and became one of the first sandbox titles on the system. It reached #1 in the Europe[26], #2 in the American and #3 in the Japanese[27] Nintendo eShop charts. The game was later remade or ported to Steam[28] (2018), Android[29] (2018), Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4[30].
Building on this success, Cypronia is set to release its most recent and largest project, MEDIEVAL, in 2026. This third-person action RPG focuses on the life and exploits of the Bohemian military leader Jan Žižka during the early 15th-century Kingdom of Bohemia. Stefan Pavelka serves as lead game designer, and the game is connected to the 2022 Czech historical film Medieval (internationally released as Jan Žižka) directed by Petr Jákl[31][32][33], which dramatizes Žižka’s early career before the Hussite Wars. MEDIEVAL will be released on PC via Steam , featuring brutal, historically inspired combat and RPG elements in a fully 3D third-person perspective. This project represents Cypronia’s largest and most ambitious game to date.[3][34][35]
Since its founding, Cypronia[36] has developed and published games across a variety of genres and platforms, expanding into both ports and original projects for modern consoles such as PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The company has built a catalogue of over 40 titles. Its upcoming game, MEDIEVAL, is expected in 2026, marking both the studio’s 30th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the original release of State of War.
