Advocacy Work

More Neighbours Toronto

In June 2021, Lombardi founded More Neighbours Toronto, a volunteer-run non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for increased housing supply in Toronto and across Ontario. The organization describes itself as a multi-partisan, big-tent movement that brings together voices from across the political spectrum to push for reforms to zoning, land-use, and development policy.

Lombardi served as president of More Neighbours Toronto until January 2026, when he stepped down in connection with his exploratory campaign for the Ontario Liberal leadership[5].

Build Toronto

In 2025, Lombardi became chair of Build Toronto, the Toronto chapter of Build Canada, a national civic movement focused on economic growth, institutional renewal, and infrastructure investment[6]. He stepped down from this role in January 2026 as well.

Writing and public commentary

Lombardi is a regular contributor to The Hub and the Toronto Star, writing on topics including housing policy, public accountability, institutional reform, and economic growth[7]. He has also appeared as a speaker at the Munk Debates[8]

Political Career

Ontario Liberal housing panel

In July 2024, Lombardi was named to the Ontario Liberal Party's housing panel[9], led by then-leader Bonnie Crombie. The panel held public consultations to help shape the party's housing platform ahead of the 2025 provincial election.

Ontario Liberal leadership exploratory campaign (2026)

In January, 2026, Lombardi announced that he was exploring a run for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party, following the resignation of leader Bonnie Crombie. He made the announcement in an essay published in The Hub, in which he argued that Ontario's political culture had become focused on managing scarcity rather than pursuing growth.[10]
