Draft:Fuzzy Vault

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fuzzy vault is a cryptographic construction where secret data is encrypted using a set, and can be decrypted by someone who knows some fraction of the original set. The concept, as well as an implementation based on error-correcting codes, was first introduced by Ari Juels and Madhu Sudan in a 2002 paper.[1]

Because the sets need to be similar but not exactly equal, fuzzy vaults are an example of error tolerant cryptography. Fuzzy vaults have been used for biometric authentication.[2]
