Koh's husband, Dr. Kwang-lim Koh, was a US ambassador for South Korea, as well as a scholar specializing in law. Together, they had six children including Harold Hongju Koh. Koh, along with her family were an influential part of the Boston Korean Diaspora, which drew many Korean scholars to Boston due to its high concentration of universities during the 20th century.[1][5]
