History
IndiaFirst was founded in 2023 by Rajendran Vellapalath under the corporate entity Indiafirst Broadcast Network Private Limited, registered in Kerala. The platform was established to deliver district-level regional news coverage and original Malayalam entertainment content through an integrated digital media environment.
The platform holds a registered trademark under Class 38 (Telecommunications) in India.
In February 2026, IndiaFirst officially unveiled its brand identity at the AMMA Kudumba Sangamam 2026, held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Kochi. The event was attended by prominent figures of the Malayalam cinema industry.[1]
Platform
IndiaFirst operates as a dual-purpose digital platform:
- News: Round-the-clock live news and digital reporting with a focus on district-level hyperlocal coverage across all 14 districts of Kerala, available in both Malayalam and English.
- OTT streaming: On-demand content including original Malayalam films, web series, documentaries, sports programming, educational content, and podcasts.
The platform is accessible via a mobile application on iOS and Android and through its website. IndiaFirst aims to serve the estimated 35 million Malayalam-speaking population in Kerala as well as the global diaspora in regions including the United Arab Emirates, United States, and United Kingdom.[2]
Founder
Rajendran Vellapalath is the Founder of IndiaFirst. He has a background in aviation management, having held commercial and planning roles at Emirates, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, RAK Airways, and Rotana Jet. He later moved into media and technology entrepreneurship. He is also the Founder and CEO of Voizzit, a social media and messaging application, and a co-founder of TPConnects Technologies.
