Music career

Taylor relocated to Paris from the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011. Performing under the alias Juda Jmar, he released the single "Atlas" in 2013 featuring American rapper French Montana. The track was playlisted by the French urban station Generations.[1] During this period, Taylor was featured by the Canal+ platform Canal Street in its coverage of American expatriate artists within the French hip hop scene.[3]

In 2018, Taylor released the single "Syntax." The accompanying music video, which addressed themes of anti-Blackness and professional grooming standards, received coverage from the cultural outlet AfroPunk.[2]

Following a relocation to Toulon in 2020, he began performing as Juda Jay. In 2021, he collaborated with Estonian soprano Triin Lellep on the single "Empathy," a project combining elements of opera and hip hop.[4] In 2025, Taylor was selected as a resident artist at Tandem, the Scène de Musiques Actuelles (SMAC) of the Var.[5] In May 2025, he performed as the opening act for rapper Benjamin Epps at the Zénith de Toulon.[5]

Film

Taylor appeared in the lead role of the 2015 short film For Real Tho, directed by Baptiste Penetticobra and commissioned for the Centre Pompidou.[6] The production received the Quality Award (Prix à la Qualité) from the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) in 2017.[7]
