Krish Chilukuri (1956) is an Indian- American researcher, engineer and father of the Second Lady of the United States Usha Vance. Through his daughter's marriage, he is the father in law of Vice President of the United States JD Vance. He is currently a lecturer at San Diego University.

Early Life and Career
Childhood and Immigration
Chilukuri was born in India and immigrated to the United States in the 1980s. Chilukuri was originally from the state of Andhra Pradesh and he spent most of his childhood in the village of Vadduru before moving to Chennai. In the 1980s Krish and his wife immigrated to the San Diego, California in the United States to start a family and pursue their careers.[1]
Career
Chilukuri is a mechanical engineer who graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). His work involves aerospace engineering. Krish has published numerous technical papers and has received several patents.
Krish is currently a lecturer at San Diego University, currently within the department of aerospace engineering.
Personal Life
Marriage and Children
Chilukuri married Lakshmi N. Chilukuri who is a Scientist and provost of Sixth College. They have two daughters, Shreya Chilukuri, an engineer, and Usha Chilukuri Vance, an attorney and the Second Lady of the United States, married to Vice President JD Vance. Krish has three grandchildren from his daughter Usha, who is expecting a fourth child.
He raised his children Hindu emphasizing education and traditional family values.

Relationship with JD Vance
Chilukuri and his son in law JD Vance has been noted to have a great relationship. In JD Vance's memoir Hillbilly Elegy, Vance had noted that he was "amazed at the lack of drama" when first meeting Usha's family contrasting their stable enviroment.
In Vance's election for U.S. Senator in the 2022 United States Senate election in Ohio, Chilukuri supported JD Vance in his bid in which was successful. In the 2024 United States presidential election, Chilukuri supported Donald Trump and JD Vance.
