Kristina Libby is an American writer, artist, and performer. She is best known as the creator of the Floral Heart Project, a public art initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic, and as the writer and performer of "I Almost Died for This?!" an autobiographical one woman show.

Writing

Libby is a humorist, freelancer, and essayist whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, McSweeney's, Elle, Salon, Popular Mechanics, andThe Boston Globe.[1][2][3][4][5]

Art

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Libby created the Floral Heart Project, a nationwide public art initiative in which floral heart installations were placed as memorials to those who died from COVID-19.[6][7][8] The project received national media coverage and Libby was recognized as one of the Top 10 Public Artists for Social Change.[9][10][11][12]

She also created an animal sculptural universe known as The Chunkos[13][14][15]and is a landscape painter.

She runs the Cohort[16] and frequently speaks on art, culture, creativity, love and overcoming grief.[17][18]

Theatrical Work

Libby wrote and performed I Almost Died for This?!, an autobiographical solo show based on her personal experiences.[19] The show was developed in Matt Hoverman's Go-Solo workshop and was directed by Padraic Lillis, Founding Artistic Director of The Farm Theater and a faculty member at New York University.

The show premiered at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City,[20] where it won Best Storytelling Show in 2025.[21] It subsequently ran at 59E59 Theaters in New York in July 2026, before its international debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2026, at The Space UK on the Mile.[22]

Forbes described the show as "honest, funny and brave."[23]

All About Solo described the show as "a tender and quietly powerful piece about love, loss, and choosing connection over isolation."[24]

Podcasts

Libby has written two romantic comedy audio fiction podcasts for Fox Entertainment's Meet Cute network: Influence (2024)[25] and Couldn't Be You (2026).

Television

In 2024, Libby co-wrote and executive produced Books, an independent comedy pilot, through her production company 7th Draft Productions, alongside co-writer and executive producer Tim Cahill.[26][27]The pilot stars Spencer Grammer and Ajay Naidu (Office Space).[28]

Academic

Libby holds a B.A. in English and Political Science from Dalhousie University and an M.A. in International Security from the University of Denver. She has taught at New York University and the University of Florida.
