History
The company was incorporated in 1985 as Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited and was later renamed LRQA Limited.[1] Before the 2021 sale, it operated as part of Lloyd's Register's Business Assurance and Inspection Services division.[2]
In June 2021, Lloyd's Register agreed to sell that division, including LRQA, to funds managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management.[2][3][4]
Acquisitions
Following the 2021 sale, LRQA expanded through acquisitions. In January 2022, it acquired ELEVATE, a Hong Kong-based supply-chain and ESG assessment company.[5] In October 2024, it acquired Ergon Associates, a London-based human rights consultancy.[6][7] In 2025, trade publications reported that LRQA had also acquired RESET Carbon.[8]
