Lucius Henry Chappell (December 27, 1853 – November 14, 1928) was a civic leader in Columbus, Georgia. He served several terms as mayor of Columbus.
He was the son of Absalom Harris Chappell and Loretto Lamar Chappell.
He was an alderman in Rose Hill, Georgia before it was annexed to Columbus. He then served as mayor of Columbus. He returned to the office in 1900s. He was part of many fraternal and social organizations.
He was mayor of Columbus from 1898–1907 and from 1912–1913. He and his family were photographed in front of their home at 1430 Third Avenue.[1]

He was a Democrat. He was an organizer of the Columbus Historical Society and served as its president. In 1929 he was described as the Father of Modern Columbus.[2]
His son Lucius Henry Chappell was a naval officer.[3]
