History

Lyle Washington DC was opened in 2021. The site was previously occupied by Carlyle Hotel in Washington. The original building, built in 1939, had a renovation before the spring of 2021.[4]

Construction and Design

The construction works kept the original Art Deco exterior of the building. The hotel's interior space was changed by the Lore Group and its Creative Director, designer Jacu Strauss to reflect the neighborhood of Dupont Circle.[5]

The hotel's design draws from the origins of the building and uses neutral colors, natural materials like wood, airy spaces and a lot of greenery. OTJ Architects, who worked on the project state in their project summary that they incorporated sustainable and contemporary lighting solutions. They also made the hotel interior reflect the Art Deco exterior. [6]

The hotel contains 196 rooms and suites with accessible and dog-friendly options. There is also a gym and a fitness studio.

Restaurant and Bar

Lyle's Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on Saturday and Sunday with an American menu.[7] In 2026, the restaurant started take-away and delivery services.

The Bar at Lyle's is a modern cocktail bar.

Event Spaces and Venues

Lyle DC has seven meeting rooms and event spaces. The Lobby Level has the Parlor (max capacity of 40), the Gallery (max capacity of 30) and the Lyle's Private Dining Room (max capacity of 12). The Lower Level has the Conservatory (max capacity of 22), the Pantry (max capacity of 10), the Drawing Room (max capacity of 60) and the Study (max capacity of 14).[8]
