History

Serrala was founded in 1984 as Hanse Orga GmbH by Hans Herbert Lindemann,[8][2] and the business remained family-owned until 2016.[9]

In 1985, the company introduced its first product, Moneta, which supported treasury, cash, and liquidity management. This was followed in 1994 by AutoBank, which automated general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable postings.[10]

In 1999, Hanse Orga developed the SAP Liquidity Planner and, in 2000, integrated Moneta and AutoBank into the SAP environment. During the late 2000s, the company expanded its SAP-embedded software offerings to cover treasury operations and bank connectivity.[10]

Hanse Orga consolidated several of its finance-related software offerings into a unified product suite in the 2010s.[11] The company also expanded into working capital management and updated its software portfolio to be compatible with SAP S/4HANA.[12]

The founder’s son, Sven Lindemann, became chief executive officer in 2012.[13]

By 2016, the company had subsidiaries in France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Spain.[3] That same year, Waterland Private Equity acquired a majority stake in the company, [9] and Hanse Orga acquired SOPLEX Consult. [14] Further acquisitions followed in 2017: Dolphin Enterprise Solutions, Tembit Software, and e5 Solutions Group.[15]

Hanse Orga adopted the name Serrala Group GmbH in 2018.[16][17] The same year, the company shifted its product focus from SAP-embedded to cloud-native software.[17][18]

In 2020, the company acquired AcceptEasy,[19] and in 2021 the investor Hg purchased most of Waterland’s interest.[20][21] The Lindemann family retains a minority shareholding alongside Waterland.[22]

In 2022, Hartmut Wagner was appointed chief executive officer [23], and in 2023 he was succeeded by former chief financial officer Axel Rebien.[24]

In 2024, Serrala acquired Payference,[25] followed by Cevinio in 2026.[26]

Products and services

Serrala's software addresses the accounts payable[4], accounts receivable[5][6], payments,[2] cash forecasting and treasury management functions[7][2] of the finance process. Its portfolio includes both SAP-embedded and cloud-native products,[2] the latter offered under the name Alevate.[27][28] Since 2024, Serrala has stated that it is incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning into its software portfolio.[29]

In 2025, the company introduced the Serrala Finance Platform, which combines its products within a single interface with options for integrations, managed services, and related add-ons.[2]
