Early life and education
Steven was born in 1956 in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Fordham University on a football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1979.[6]
Career
In 1982, Steven started working at Shearson American Express and was promoted to the rank of senior vice president of portfolio management in 1989.[7] Later, he joined Cowen and Company as special limited partner and worked there till 1996.[8][9]
In 1996, he founded APB financial group, a registered broker for shareholder activism. In 2011, he founded the Abernathy Group II which evolved into The Abernathy Group II Family Office, which manages the wealth and investment of high-net-worth healthcare and technology experts.[10][11][12][13]
