History
The Horror Section was founded by filmmaker and actor Eli Roth in partnership with Media Capital Technologies (MCT). Jon Schnaars serves as co-founder and chief executive officer. Christopher Woodrow was appointed chairman of The Horror Section.[1]
In March 2025, The Horror Section sold a 10% stake in the company to over 2,000 fans on the investment platform Republic. MCT provides additional co-financing for most of the films on The Horror Section's slate.[2][3]
In May 2025, The Horror Section announced that it would co-finance and produce Ice Cream Man, which would be written and directed by Roth.[4] After making its debut at the Cannes Market, StudioCanal's Sixth Dimension acquired distribution rights to the film across the U.K., Germany, France, Benelux, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand.[5][6] Ice Cream Man is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2026.[7] During the Cannes Market, The Horror Section also signed a multi-year, multi-picture co-financing and production alliance with Construction Film, the German-based production banner founded by Veronica Ferres.[8]
In September 2025, The Horror Section announced at the Toronto International Film Festival that it would co-finance and produce Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!, which would be written and directed by Roth. Snoop Dogg will be a producer as well as writer and performer on the original soundtrack. The film will begin principal photography in 2026. Don’t Go in That House, Bitch! is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027.[9] Later in the month, The Horror Section also partnered with Blackcraft Cult to support merchandising for The Horror Section and its films.[10]
