Paramount Pictures revealed in November 2025, that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley would be directing, writing, and producing a new Star Trek feature film, that is unrelated to the other films in the franchise and that the film would not serve as a sequel to the Kelvin Timeline films directed by J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin, with the studio having abandoned plans for a sequel to Star Trek Beyond (2016).[1]
