Comment: Might be notable; needs sources with significant coverage. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 16:55, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Comment: For example, source 1 does not state that it "allows you to learn more than 20 lanuages", or "beginner to advanced level". Failed verifications are unencyclopedic and usually indicate the use of AI. Somepinkdude (talk) 13:09, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

History
Wordy was created by Sándor Bogyó, who developed the app out of frustration with looking up unfamiliar words while watching English-language films.[1] The app launched on iOS in September 2024 and was covered by TechCrunch.[1] An Android version followed shortly after.[3]
In October 2025, Wordy won the 10 million HUF grand prize in the OTP Junior Piacralépők, a televised business competition for young entrepreneurs organised by OTP Bank.[4][5]
By March 2026, Wordy had been downloaded more than 300,000 times across over 100 countries, with approximately 50,000 monthly active users.[6]
Features
Wordy offers a library of over 15,000 clips from films and TV shows.[3] Users watch short scenes and learn new words in context, then practice vocabulary through quizzes based on the scenes they watched.[1] The app contains approximately 9,000 words per language, covering beginner to advanced levels.[3]
