Electoral history of Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders has run for public office several times, beginning in 1972. He is an independent politician, however he caucuses with the Democratic Party, one of two major parties in the United States, and often runs in their primaries.^[1]^[2] He has served as a member of the United States Senate from Vermont since 2007.^[3] He has previously served as the United States Representative from Vermont's At-large congressional district (1991–2007), and Mayor of Burlington, Vermont (1981–1989).
