Isfahan County (Persian: شهرستان اصفهان) is in Isfahan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Isfahan.[3]

History
After the 2006 National Census, the village of Qahjavarestan was elevated to the status of a city.[4] After the 2011 census, the city of Khvorasgan became District 15 of the city of Isfahan,[5] the village of Ziar rose to city status.[6]
Five districts were separated from Isfahan County in 2021: Bon Rud District[a] was renamed the Central District of Varzaneh County;[7] Jarqavieh Olya and Jarqavieh Sofla[b] Districts formed Jarqavieh County;[8] Jolgeh District[c] was renamed the Central District of Harand County;[7] and Kuhpayeh District[d] was renamed Tudeshk District in establishing Kuhpayeh County.[9]
Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 1,963,315 in 543,688 households.[10] The following census in 2011 counted 2,174,172 people in 657,857 households.[11] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 2,243,249 in 707,870 households.[2]
