McAllister from Tillydrone, was a member of the Kincorth Amateur Boxing Club in Aberdeen[2] and by profession was a metal merchant.[3]
In March 1986, he won the 1986 Scottish welterweight championship at Grangemouth[3] and subsequently fought in the 1986 ABA Championships.[4]
McAllister represented the Scottish team[5] at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he competed in the welterweight division.[6] He won the silver medal after beating Sterling Ebanks of the Cayman Islands and John Shaw of Canada before losing the final to Darren Dyer of England.[7][8]
In 1993 McAllister was jailed for six years after killing a woman in an argument at a night club after he punched her in the face and she hit her head on the ground. He was released in 1997[9][10]
