The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (Japanese: 公益財団法人日本デザイン振興会) is a Japanese design institution. Originally called the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, it was founded in 1969[1] with the goal of promoting industrial design. It issues annual Good Design Awards.[2]

History
- 1969 – Established as the "Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization" (財団法人日本産業デザイン振興会)[note 1][3].
- 1971 – Joined the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID)[5].
- 1974 – Commissioned by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry to operate the "Good Design Product Selection System"[5].
- 1998 – The "Good Design Product Selection System" was privatized and continued as the "Good Design Award"[5].
- 2011 (1 June) – Transitioned to the "Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Japan Design Promotion Organization" in accordance with the Public Interest Corporation System Reform[6]. Kazumasa Nagai became chairman.
- 2013 (1 April) – Motomi Kawakami became chairman.
