Klaus Mlynek

Born in Poznań, Poland, Mlynek studied history, history of Christianity and history of law at the University of Jena and archival science at the Institute of Archival Science, ^[de] completing the state examination (Staatsexamen) in 1957. He received his scientific archivist diploma the following year, and his doctorate in 1961.

After working at the German Central Archive [de] and the archive of the German Academy of Sciences at Berlin, both in East Germany, Mlynek was director of the archives of Hanover^[5] in West Germany from 1977 until his retirement in 1997.^[1] His research focused on aspects of Hanover's urban history.
