Li Sitong

Born in Jieyang, Guangdong on April 19, 2004, Li is of Teochew descent. Li Sitong was a high school student of Puning City Second Experimental School. She graduated from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics with a major in financial engineering.

In 2024 she was discovered by the director Lan Hongchun through the short video platform Douyin and subsequently participated in an audition for production of the upcoming Chinese film Dear You, in which she was co-starred with Wang Yantong and Wu Shaoqing.

Following the release of the 2026 Chinese film Dear You on April 30, 2026, Li became best known for portraying the female lead character of Thai Chinese woman Zia Lamgi, and has since gained the media and public attention.^[1][2][3]

On May 12, 2026, she was recommended by netizens as a potential candidate for the film adaptation of novel Land of Vulgarity to the Malaysian author Li Zishu, who had since responded that she had referred the suggestion to the respective filmmaking personnel.^[4] On May 14, 2026, Li Sitong updated her Weibo page account to "Actor Li Sitong" (演员李思潼), officially announced herself as an actress.^[5]

On June 14, 2026, Li attended the 2026 Weibo Movie Night with Wang Yantong in Shanghai, where they performed the songs Handwriting and Brewing Tea Under the Moon with Hong Kong singer and actress Miriam Yeung, based from the film Dear You, they also received the "Breakthrough Actor of the Year" award.^[6] On June 19, 2026, alongside with another actor Liu Haoyu, Li and Wang won the Best New Actor and Best New Actress of the 23rd China Movie Channel Media Awards hosted by CCTV-6.^[7][8]

On July 17, 2026, Li had been dragged into the spotlight for the wrong reason due to her "silence" to the brutal death of the mother dog Wangwang and her three puppies being committed by the four young teenagers under the age of 14 at Jieyang on June 28, 2026,^[9] which happened to be Li's hometown. As Li was yet to speak out against the act committed by the teenagers, netizens started to flood her account with negative comments demanding her statement. As some netizens discovered their comments had allegedly disappeared, which cannot be ascertained either due to the filtering of the platform's review mechanism or possible Li's moderation team, this further escalated with the boycotting discussions being made against her and her newly-made collaborating brand partner Cotti Coffee.^[10][11][12]
