Masaya Fukunishi, a native of Nara Prefecture, was born on 24 February 1995.[1] While in elementary school, he decided to be a voice actor, and he as a teenager did some stage work.[1] In 2012, he won the Best Anime Scenario Award at Seiyu Koshien.[2] In 2014, he was selected in the Voice Actor Category at the 3rd Seiyū Damashī [ja].[3]

After Tatsuhisa Suzuki went into a career hiatus following an extramarital affair scandal, Fukunishi replaced him as the voice of Gege in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger starting with the 25th episode in August 2021.[5] In 2022, he later replaced Suzuki as the voice of Ken Ryūgūji in Tokyo Revengers.[6] In August 2023, it was announced that he would star as Kafka Hibino, the titular protagonist of Kaiju No. 8.[7] He was a guest at Anime Expo 2024.[8]
