Mechano growth factor (MGF, IGF-IEc) is a naturally occurring 24-amino acid peptide which is the C-terminal fragment derived from enzymatic cleavage of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). It is expressed during muscle repair following physical activity, and has anabolic effects.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] This has led to illicit use by athletes leading to MGF being banned by the World Anti-Doping Association.[8][9][10]
At least one research paper raised concerns about the potential carcinogenicity of this compound.[11]
