Mecistocephalus uncifer is a species of soil centipede in the Mecistocephalidae family.[1] This centipede is found on the island of New Guinea.[1] This species has 49 pairs of legs and can reach 65 mm in length.[2]

This species was first described in 1919 by Italian myriapodologist Filippo Silvestri.[3] He based the original description of this species on specimens found at an elevation of 1,300 meters in Moroka in Central Province in Papua New Guinea.[3][4] This species is known only from Papua New Guinea.[1]
