Dernekçi represented Turkey in age-group international competitions from the late 2010s onward. In 2017, she won the bronze medal in the 52 kg event at the European U15 Wrestling Championships.[2] In 2019, she won the silver medal at the Balkan Junior Wrestling Championships. ENKA Spor also reported that she won bronze in the 53 kg category at an international cadet tournament held in Romania.[3][4]
In 2021, she won the bronze medal in the 55 kg event at the 2021 European Junior Wrestling Championships held in Germany.[5] Later that year, she also won bronze at the 2021 World Junior Wrestling Championships in Ufa.[6]
In 2022, Dernekçi finished fifth at the 2022 World Junior Wrestling Championships. In the same year, she won the gold medal in the 59 kg category at the FISU World Cup in Samsun. Trakya University described her as a world champion student athlete, and Ondokuz Mayıs University also reported her success at the event.[7][8][9]
In 2023, she placed seventh at the 2023 European U23 Wrestling Championships and 14th at the 2023 World Wrestling Championships.[10] In the same year, competing for Trakya University, she became Turkish university champion at 55 kg.[11]
In 2025, Dernekçi finished fifth at the 2025 U23 World Wrestling Championships. She also competed at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in the women's freestyle 57 kg event and placed 18th overall.[12]
In January 2026, she won the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 55 kg category at the 2026 Yaşar Doğu Tournament in Antalya.[13]
