Background
Location and date

On 23 September 2025, the Miss Universe Organization and the Governor of Puerto Rico, Jenniffer González-Colón announced that Puerto Rico will host the 75th Miss Universe pageant. This will be the fourth time that they have hosted the event, after 1972, 2001, and 2002.[1][2] The organizers designated the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan as the venue of the pageant.[3][4][5] The event will take place in November 2026.[6]
Selection of participants
Among the delegates, some were appointed to the position after being runner-up in their national pageant,[a] or being chosen through a casting process,[b] while two were selected to replace an original winner.
Miss France 2025, Angélique Angarni-Filopon, had expressed interest in representing France at the Miss Universe 2026 competition.[11] However, due to the controversy surrounding the previous competition, the Miss France Organization released an official statement, saying that they were reconsidering their relationship with the Miss Universe Organization and would announce their plans at a later date.[12][13]
Replacements
73rd Miss Universe China, Xinying Zhu, withdrew due to age restrictions.[14][15] She was replaced by Na Zhao, who competed at Miss Universe 2025 instead due to Xuhe Hou's withdrawal.[16][17] Ultimately, Weiyi Chen, the winner of the 74th Miss Universe China, became the new representative.[18]
Miss Kyrgyzstan Universe 2025, Anara Esengeldieva, was replaced by Medina Ermekova for unknown reasons.[19]
Debuts and returns
This edition will mark the debuts of Niger and Uganda.[20][21] It will also mark the return of Austria (last competed in 2017),[22] Germany, Iceland, Jamaica, Mongolia, and Suriname (last competed in 2024).[23][24][25][26][27]
