As of the 2020 census, Mississippi State had a population of 4,968. The median age was 19.6 years. For every 100 females, there were 79.4 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.0 males age 18 and over.[8][9]
Of residents, 1.2% were under the age of 18 and 0.5% were 65 years of age or older. There were 105 households, of which 39.0% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 36.2% were married-couple households, 26.7% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 30.5% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 15.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.[8]
There were 131 housing units, of which 19.8% were vacant. The homeowner vacancy rate was 6.5%, and the rental vacancy rate was 15.6%. Of residents, 99.8% lived in urban areas, while 0.2% lived in rural areas.[8][10]
