The Nagqu Horse Racing Festival (Chinese: 那曲赛马节, 恰青赛马节; Tibetan: ནག་ཆུ་རྟ་རྒྱུག་དུས་སྟོན), held annually in August in Nagqu City (formerly Nagqu Prefecture), Tibet Autonomous Region, China, is one of the largest nomadic cultural events on the Tibetan Plateau.[1] Originating from ancient Tibetan military training and religious rituals, the festival was formalized in 1993 by local authorities to preserve pastoral traditions and boost regional tourism.[2]
