Podveky is a municipality and village in Kutná Hora District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants.
Etymology
The name was derived from the Old Czech word poděvek, denoting a person who hides or throws something away, but also a weakling or a desperate person. The initial name of the village was Poděveky, meaning "the village where poděveks live". At the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, the name was distorted to Podveky.[3]
