Rosice is a municipality and village in Chrudim District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,400 inhabitants.

Rosice consists of four municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census):[2]

Etymology

The name is derived from the personal name Rosa, meaning "the village of Rosa's people".[3]

Geography

Chroustovice is located about 11 kilometres (7 mi) east of Chrudim and 17 km (11 mi) southeast of Pardubice. It lies in an undulating agricultural landscape if the Svitavy Uplands. The Žejbro Stream flows through the market town.

History

There were originally two separate villages in the area of today's Rosice, called Rosice and Seslávky. The first written mention of Seslávky is from after 1131, the first written mention of Rosice is from 1318.[4]
