History

The masjid was believed to have been constructed during the 17th century,[a] possibly under the rule of Sher Shah Suri, who established the Sur Empire in India. The mosque was, prior to its demolition, the oldest Mughal mosque in Prayagraj.

In 2023, the mosque was demolished to make way for a road-widening project on the Grant Trunk Road.[4][2][5]
