Background and composition

According to Oasis' official single page, "She Is Love" was recorded at Wheeler End Studios in Buckinghamshire and Olympic Studios in London.[3] In May 2002, Gallagher said the song had been inspired by his relationship with Sara MacDonald, adding that he had written it "about how lovely" he thought she was and that "it's how I feel about her".[6] In a separate interview with Q, he described it as being about "waking up on a sunny Sunday morning" and feeling that "life is good".[7]

Gallagher has also been reported as saying that the song was written at the Buckingham Gate Hotel in London and completed in around 30 minutes.[8]

Promotion

A promotional film for the song was directed by Rachel Thomas. Cinematographer Natasha Braier's official portfolio lists the project as having been shot in London for McGuffin UK.[9] The video has not been given a standard commercial release.[8]

Inspiration

A similarity between the song's sentiment and a passage from Khalil Gibran's book The Prophet has been noted.[citation needed]

"When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you."

John Lennon also drew on Gibran in the Beatles song, "Julia".[10]
