Sorsogon's 1st congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Sorsogon. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1916 and earlier in the Philippine Assembly from 1907 to 1916.[3] The district consists of the provincial capital, Sorsogon City, and adjacent municipalities of Casiguran, Castilla, Donsol, Magallanes and Pilar. It is currently represented in the 20th Congress by Maria Bernadette G. Escudero of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).[4]

Prior to its second dissolution in 1972, it consisted of the eastern municipalities of Barcelona, Bulan, Bulusan, Gubat, Irosin, Matnog, Prieto Diaz, and Santa Magdalena. The municipality of Casiguran was first part of this district until it was reapportioned to the second district effective 1922 as a result of the establishment of Masbate as an independent province in 1920.[5]
