It belongs to the Madurai railway division of the Southern Railway zone of Virudhunagar district in Tamil Nadu.[6] The station code is SVPR.[7]

The station falls on the line between Virudhunagar Junction and Tenkasi Junction.[8][9] This railway station is situated about 5 km to the east of the town. The next railway station on the south is Rajapalayam.
