Stephen Cheston

Stephen Cheston (died 1572, by 1 February) was an English lawyer and priest. He was appointed Archdeacon of Winchester under Mary I of England, and retained the position for the rest of his life, despite an attempt to remove him by legal means under Elizabeth I.[1][2]

Cheston was from Bury St Edmunds.[3] He was awarded a Bachelor of Civil Law degree by the University of Cambridge, in 1542; by 1554 he also had a Bachelor of Laws degree.[2][4]
