I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are outlined below:

• The article has several uncited statements, including entire paragraphs.
• I don't think the lead summarises all major aspects of the article.
• The formatting could be improved. Some sections are quite long and could be broken up with additional headings (my recommendations is four paragraphs maximum before a new heading) while the "Top-fermented beers" section has short one-or-two line paragraphs that should be merged together.

Is anyone willing to address these concerns, or should this go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 03:55, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

The first paragraph states "Beer is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in the world, the most widely consumed, and the third most popular drink after water and tea."

Coffee is also more popular than beer, it is also arguable that soda and/or juice is also more popular. This can be found with simple Google inquiries. The sentence would be better off reading as "one of the most popular drinks in the world" instead. Retromegabit (talk) 09:25, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

"In the United States, a total of 3.3 million deaths per year (5.9% of all deaths) are believed to be due to alcohol." 3.3 million deaths is the yearly death amount in the USA. We take this for granted, but prior to the around the 1870s, it was not common. You went to a beer garden or park and drank beer on the premise in a glass drawn from a cask. It took some time for the idea of bottled beer to catch on. It was initially a novelty. Breweries had to build bottling plants. This is what I understand anyway.
