Historic child sexual abuse scandal (2016)

On 29 November 2017, Chelsea became implicated in the United Kingdom football sexual abuse scandal after announcing it was investigating allegations of historical sexual abuse in the 1970s.Mendick, Robert; Rumsby, Ben (2016-11-30). Retrieved 2021-07-30.{{cite web}}: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link) Significant investigative allegations against the club claimed that a secret payment was made to a former player who had accused the club's ex-chief scout Eddie Heath of child sexual abuse. On 2 December, Gary Johnson came forward, saying he was paid £50,000 not to go public with allegations he was sexually abused by Heath. The following day, Chelsea apologised "profusely" to Johnson, who later demanded further financial compensation from the club. On 3 December, The Independent reported a Chelsea youth player's allegation that Dario Gradi, then Chelsea's assistant manager, visited the player's family's home to "smooth over" a complaint of sexual assault against Heath in 1974. Gradi was suspended by the FA on 11 December 2016 in relation to these allegations. In August 2019, Chelsea's board apologised "unreservedly" for the mistake of allowing Heath, a "prolific and manipulative sexual abuser", to operate "unchallenged"."Chelsea statement | Official Site | Chelsea Football Club". ChelseaFC. Retrieved 2021-07-30. The apology followed an inquiry led by barrister Charles Geekie QC which heard evidence from 23 witnesses, with 15 reporting "serious and unambiguous sexual assaults", including rape."Chelsea racism case a fight for 'justice and equality'". BBC Sport. Retrieved 2021-07-30. In May 2018, the Guardian reported Chelsea had begun paying settlements to victims of sexual abuse at the club."Chelsea issue secret payout to alleged sexual abuse victim of former scout". The Guardian. 2018-05-17. Retrieved 2021-07-30. Legal experts have predicted the total cost of compensation for abuse victims across the UK could reach more than £100m. It is not currently known how much total compensation Chelsea has paid themselves.

2021 FIFA Intercontinental Cup - 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Lkt777 (talk) 02:20, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

correct, and the FIFA Club World Cup should be made clear that they are the first winners of this title, as it's not the same competition as the previous one. 64.124.12.19 (talk) 22:33, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

Yes, FIFA renamed the old FIFA Club World Cup (2000, 2005-2023) to FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup competition started in 2025, according to FIFA primary source and many secondary sources, but before making the change, it is necessary for users to reach a consensus in the RfC section on the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup talk page. After a consensus is reached, and after some necessary changes in some articles, the update can be made. Until a consensus is obtained, you can vote on that article talk page in the polling section. Thank you! Patagonia41 (talk) 21:47, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 26 July 2025

Change “They also won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021 and 2025, the latter being the contest's first iteration with 32 teams” to “They also won the Intercontinental Cup in 2021 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, the latter being the contest's inaugural edition.” Josh4265 (talk) 07:11, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. SI09 (talk) 11:27, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
Chelsea's own website even distinguishes the two. ~2025-41358-17 (talk) 23:21, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Wanted to add History from 2012 with F1 team

"Chelsea FC entered a ground breaking partnership with the Sauber F1 Team in 2012. The deal, initiated ahead of the Champions League final, involved placing the Chelsea FC crest on the sides of the Sauber C31 car and featuring Sauber branding at Stamford Bridge."

I hope to see this in the history soon, as I cannot make edits to this page.
