Cranfield Airport → London Cranfield AirportLondon Cranfield Airport – I am posting this on behalf of ~2026-38128-44 (talk · contribs) who said on their talk page please can you change the name of the article to "London Cranfield Airport", the changed content (rebranding) already has an existing citation/reliable source within the article: "In July 2026 the airport was rebranded as London Cranfield Airport.[2]" - 2. Oppose (for transparency I may have requested the rename on behalf of someone else but that doesn't mean I have to support it). In theory this could go 50:50 - Luton, Gatwick, Lydd and Oxford haven't been renamed "London....", but the Southend, Stansted and Biggin Hill articles have been. I think this is a marketing affectation, newly-done, and not yet widely reflected in the media. Oppose even their website is not consistent at using "London Cranfield" ! Less than 50 miles from London and with excellent transport links to major UK cities, Cranfield Airport is an ideal destination for business customers that want to avoid the constraints of other airports.   The OS has different criteria. If you are starting from a map and see an airfield, you might want to know its name: the OS is going to accept the owner's word for it and I woulkd assume that the OS gazetteer has both names. Wikipedia's criterion is set out in WP:COMMONNAME, it starts from the name that most visitors know and use. Possibly that will evolve in the years ahead, but not any time soon.
