Deir ez-Zor Airport → Deir ez-Zor International Airport – The airport has recently been reconstructed and upgraded to handle international flights. According to the official announcement by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Syria, scheduled international flights operated by Syrian Airlines to Kuwait City are set to begin on August 3, 2026 (Source). Additionally, the newly installed external signage at the airport terminal now explicitly labels it as "International Airport" (Source). Moving the page to "Deir ez-Zor International Airport" is necessary to accurately reflect its current status and official designation. –yeagvr · ✉ 11:23, 20 July 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME - I can find precisely one (1) news article using Google that refers to the airport as Deir ez-Zor International Airport, with every other result not using the "International". Article names on Wikipedia do not automatically follow official name changes, nor do they follow what signage says. What's needed is evidence that the common name used by independent reliable sources has shifted to include "International" in what's used to refer to the airport. - Wait - Since it was just reconstructed, we don't know if it's the WP:COMMONNAME yet or not. I suggest waiting for a few months because the current status of the name is pretty unclear. NeoSyria\Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 18:01, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
