The result of the move request was: moved. Rough consensus to move (closed by non-admin page mover) BilledMammal (talk) 02:18, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
Fox (Mexico) → Fox (Latin American TV channel) – i wont extend much beacuse there had already a lot of debate in Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests [] ,but basically the new Fox channel will expand beyond mexico and into more countries of central america as mentioned on that debate
Besides the recommendation to make this section, another reason for its creation is to re-check if the move should be done into (Latin American TV Channel) before move it altogether
At principle, there seemed a concensus among me and users @HurricaneZeta @162_etc. @Sammi_Brie to move it to (Latin American TV Channel) instead of the current name
@Intrisit had asked me for secondary sournces, i dont know if he still wants me to provide some, but i can provide some in spanish talking about the expansion if he still needs so

- I was expecting Polyamorph to instigate the RM himself/herself, as it would have been easier for me to weigh in and not all hour-by-hour connections are active in one portion of the globe to even have access to a WP page, let alone click/tap "Discuss" for this RM to pop up. Sure it's contested due to the pre-2023 Fox Latin America's history residing inside Star Channel Latin America, and with that in mind I see that you've added the hatnote to clear up the confusion. As at this edit, I haven't checked on the sources, so it's not as if I am or am not convinced; it's that only 3 years after the renaming of the original Fox Latin America, it's coming back, but an extension of Fox Mexico. Whoever titled it this way prior to you listing this at RMTR confused me and the RMTR participants, hence why it got contested. It's also just that due to this "Fox Sports" brand name legal dispute between Fox Corp. and the Fox Sports Mexico network owners/operators, the info here is disjointed and confusing, because I feel like what's now at Fox Sports Latin America and Fox Sports Mexico can be incubated here for historical context or background. Now that this RM is instigated, I'll copyedit the entire page and "anglicize" the sources as this is the English Wikipedia – not Spanish Wikipedia, where this should be residing! Please take all this info at face value and bother less about their definition/meaning. Good luck with your RM's fate, though! Intrisit (talk) 08:28, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Intrisit it really surprised me when i saw the editor refusion the move specially when it was preetty muhch clear that we had a consensus
- As by the name issue, i do agree that is too convluated and too much of confusion, i see no problem in use Fox Sports Latin America as basiss considering that big chances of Fox may teturn with the Fox Sports monikier as soon it gets the name back from the mexican group that is licencing it, rather than use Star Channel backstory Meganinja202 (talk) 09:05, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- Your move request was contested, hence it was removed from the technical requests page which is for uncontroversial technical requests only. We don't open move requests on other user's behalf. Polyamorph (talk) 18:55, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- That's a far cry from my first year here when even if contested, move requests through the clicking/tapping on "discuss" were almost always from page movers and patrollers like you, including some of my first 30 RMTR requests. It's such a shame that this request veered to contested territory for you to remove it from RMTR. Intrisit (talk) 14:51, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, it used to be done that way, when the late Anthony Appleyard was still with us, but this has changed. Regarding the "veered to contested", there were multiple remarks contesting the move for various reasons and your own oppose !vote below exemplifies the not uncontroversial nature of the request! - Oppose: The sources provided in-page conflict (or disagree) with the nominator's channel originated in Mexico and is slated for expansion to Latin America. I'll respect copyright as much as I can, but I have to highlight what I've discovered from these sources in light of this RM enaction so as other editors can weigh in here and have their evidence for this for themselves. I've looked at the sources now, but they still state Mexico – not Latin America! Source number 5, from Reforma, has these lines translated as "
Fox Corporation announced today the acquisition of Caliente TV, one of Mexico's leading sports platforms.
" (no mention of "later could/would expand to Latin America") and "As of September 1, the channel will only be present on Pay TV operators and on the paid streaming platform Caliente TV, which for the moment will retain its name.
" (and Caliente deals with only Mexico, not Latin America.) Source number 6, from Tavi LatAm, has the headline translating as "Fox Corporation officially launched the Fox channel in the Mexican market
" – not Latin American market. I've removed source number 1, from AS Mexico, which translates as "Fox stays with MLB
", because other than this mention translated as "Remember that Fox can be seen through the FOX Channel, Caliente TV and Tubi.
" makes no pivot to addressing this Latin American expansion. I'm highlighting the Mexico and Mexican words from the line coming out of these sources to show some evidence that whoever moved it or named this article this way was absolutely right – even if not conforming to NCBC standards here. If so, then "Tigo Sports", which still operates in Latin America, if not Central America, is not part of this rebrand – it's only for Mexico! Intrisit (talk) 10:02, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- No opinion at this time on what it should be but at the very least the disambiguator should change. There are too many plausible things that could be referred to as "Fox" related to both Mexico and Latin America. Both should be retargeted to Fox (disambiguation) if this page is moved (also this page should be added there if kept at the base name of Fox). Skynxnex (talk) 16:59, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- Show me how plausible. I have my beef with NCBC and NCDAB that editors like Necrothesp, 162 etc. and Sammi Brie (now an admin) don't see what I see!!I'll nominate both this title and "Fox (Latin America)" at RFD if this RM closes, because they are akin to Disney Channel (Asian TV channel) and Disney Channel Asia I nominated at RFD and somehow resulted in this DAB re-targeting, which baffles me! I want all these deleted because they have no significant history worth retaining, only just from errant page moves or page moves to comply with "rigid/static" policy! No wonder I had to revive the Disney Channel (international) article last year after 2010s-active Spshu thought that it was duplicating that of "Disney Channels Worldwide", which since the 2020s rebrand to the current Disney Branded Television has been more of a production company per se than housing prominent Disney TV brands, so that's the justification! Intrisit (talk) 17:29, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- At the bare minimum there are actual foxes in Mexico and Vicente Fox. Skynxnex (talk) 04:56, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- some others had touched about the them that has too much mexican articles namned "FOX" for @Intrisit point to be a valid one Meganinja202 (talk) 08:56, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

- @Intrisitmost those sources were predating the tigo sports aquisition that happened early this year, first Fox Corp ediquired calienteTV as way to reemter in mexico before the fox sports license expires
- now they are expanding the footpritng to central america as you can see on those spanish secondar sources
- Canal FOX adquirió Tigo Sports y se expande a Centroamérica - Señal News Meganinja202 (talk) 06:54, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- So why aren't you putting them in the articles here and at Tigo Sports to convince us participants then? Because "Tigo Sports" is still active in Latin America – not just Central America – despite your statements. Edit these pages to put these sources there to convince me to change my vote and please try to use translation browser extensions to translate them here, because as at now this is great for Spanish Wikipedia – not here. Intrisit (talk) 17:35, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Intrisit first of all, i am editing both pages as soon as possible with the new updated info, i was adiviced that translation machine wasnt recommendedfor wiki so i sent in original language
- second Tigo Sports is only on south america (Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay to be more exactly) now, as mentioned on sources above Meganinja202 (talk) 12:19, 28 May 2026 (UTC)

- There are a lot of moving pieces here... a lot. I'd like to make some comments in response to other users first.
- The language in which a source is written does not have any weight as to its reliability. We do not demerit sources merely for not being in English. I cannot say I have heard of any of the four sources cited, but CVeintiuno and La Sociedad del Contenido seem to have staff writers (though not for this story), Metro Libre is apparently a Panamanian national daily, and #4 is the verbatim press release (cf ). I suspect the three others to some extent are rewrites of that release. But that happens in English, too.
- Nor do the opinions of contributors whose English is not perfect matter less than others.
- The current article title is, as I said at RM/TR, incorrect because there are topics named "Fox" that are not TV channels. "Fox (Mexico)" could be about foxes (the animal) in Mexico, and thus there is no reasonable expectation as NCBC sets out. There is also an issue that Fox and Fox Sports are, right now in Mexico, separate and competing entities locked in a multinational legal dispute (which has been poorly covered in English).
- We cannot speculatively rename this article to any title including Fox Sports or Fox Deportes until Fox changes the name of this channel. That cannot happen at least until later this year, when Grupo Lauman's rights to the Fox Sports name in Mexico apparently expire.
- We cannot simply rename Tigo Sports because that brand remains active in other territories.
- With that long preamble out of the way, we are left with a unit that makes sense: Caliente TV, a streaming service that became the basis for Fox Corp.'s Mexican business which now includes a linear channel known simply as Fox (or Canal Fox, "Fox Channel"), and which is now a Latin American business with the acquisition of Tigo Sports in Central America. There are two linear channels—Fox and Fox+—and the Fox One streaming service as part of this division, as well as some relationship with the Tubi streaming service. At a bare minimum we have an identifiable unit that calls itself Fox, is a TV channel, and is available (in slightly different flavors owing to sports rights) in Mexico and Central America. Support the proposed title as it eliminates the REX issue and reflects the expansion to Central America. Once this article is moved, some titles need to be repointed to fix disambiguation miscues resulting from the prior use of this name in this market. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 23:36, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Sammi Brie about the disambiguation miscues, what ones you recommend? Meganinja202 (talk) 12:42, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- Support. When I saw this I assumed it was about a Mexican breed of fox! Clearly a very bad name and very ambiguous. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:43, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Support per naming convention guidelines. "Fox" is not a "Mexico". However, it is a "Latin American TV channel". Gonnym (talk) 12:18, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
You literally always mention "...is not a (...). It is a TV channel network/channel.
" in TV channel/network RMs. The fact that no one questions or ask for explanation of that statement in previous RMs, discussions and debates have no bearing on whatever discussion in the past you are referring to and your interest or lack thereof of such instances in those RMs. This is a fresh RM. If you have issues with my reply, that's as unfortunate as what.
