Hello everyone. I am new to Wikipedia. I am a huge Ghostbusters fan and would like to contribute to this topic. Under "Cast and Characters,” I would like to add details about how the studio treated Ernie Hudson after filming was completed, specifically, the removal of his image from marketing material. I believe this contribution is relevant and will add to the information on the page about Hudson’s role getting reduced before shooting began. I will be sure to cite all sources, which include an interview with Ernie Hudson on the Howard Stern Show and other publications. Thank you for your consideration. Hi Jwhaus004, thank you for your additions. Per my previous comments, the article does cover both how Hudson's role was diminished because he wasn't as big a name as Murray and that he appreciates the fan support while being upset at his marginalized role. With or without sourcing, the commentary on his inclusion on posters is not appropriate. Saying that we should include it because he portrayed a Ghostbuster and that is the title of the film is like arguing Shia LaBouef shouldn't be on the Transformers poster because he isn't a Transformer. He wasn't a known name at the time, he did not even receive billing on the poster so his complaint about not being on the poster is a personal issue and not really something that can be laid at the feet of the studio when he is being compared to Aykroyd, Murray, and Ramis who were all vastly more successful at that point in time. You could maybe mention it on Hudson's page because it is his personal complaint but I don't believe it belongs in this article beyond what is already covered about him and his feelings. No. There is a sentence that states 1984 featured a lot of iconic films and uses the word "including" before listing some of the films in the source. Is it not necessary to mention any films that are not already there as it doesn't claim to be a comprehensive list, it's just part of a post-release analysis. It is not required that a source be found that makes the same point while listing Ghostbusters and Spinal Tap for the sake of just including Spinal Tap in the list. Sixteen Candles, Police Academy, 1984, Top Secret, Red Dawn, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and Footloose all came out that year as well, are iconic, and still don't need to be on that list. If anywhere, that kind of all-encompassing commentary that the user is trying to reach would go on 1984 in film. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 11:33, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

That line for 'iconic' seems low, I've not seen those films be referred to as iconic, none of hose were included by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."Halbared (talk) 12:00, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

It doesn't really matter, it's not a compehensive list, it's post-release analysis that includes Ghostbusters becuase it's the article on Ghostbusters and not Spinal Tap, and so a separate source that independently identifies Spinal Tap is iconic, outside of context with Ghostbusters, would still mean it does not belong in this article.
